Moorcroft
This describes pottery designed and produced by William Moorcroft in his factory in
Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent, England. This pottery is unique in that Moorcroft used the tube
lining (slip decoration) method in the 1897-1913 Florian Ware made while he was a designer
and pottery maker for James MacIntyre.
Between 1913 and until his death in 1945, Moorcroft continued to make this ware in
Cobridge, England, in a more impressionist style and with less of the labor-intensive slip
decoration. The early work is highly valued, as it is still unique and not reproduced.
Moorcroft pottery is still made today with new patterns and designs.
CARA Antiques specializes in early Moorcroft, made between 1897 and 1935.
